Intellectual Freedom

Individuals have a right to pursue ideas, knowledge, and beliefs and the Library reflects diverse and multicultural viewpoints in our collection and programs. We promote critical thinking, creative processes, and life-long learning that leads to innovation, empathy, and meaningful participation in our society. We are ready to defend the rights of our patrons and to protect privacy, access to materials, and accuracy of information. We have the courage to fight against efforts to censor or to keep citizens from information and resources that reflect their identity or that may benefit them.

Access to Information and Delivery Systems

Information and materials are collected and delivered through various platforms and formats. The Library believes that every resident should easily understand how to access it. Access to technology often correlates to skills-building essential in daily life. We are committed to a consistent and on-going effort to provide the most up-to-date and suitable technology as well as training patrons about how to best use resources.

Diversity, Inclusion, Equity

The Library works with everyone without regard to background, education, age, language, income, or sexual orientation. We actively seek out partnerships, leaders, and resource people to develop programs and services that represent and respond to the needs of our diverse constituency. We have a visible and meaningful role in transforming social inequities in our community.
