Citizen Science

Thursday, July 6 at 4pm
Presented by Allison Hague, Bedford 2030

Experiment with nature journaling by sketching and identifying what you find (like bugs, worms, or weeds) using field guides, and the app iNaturalist. Track biodiversity through "citizen science" by sharing your observations to help scientists protect nature! Take home your own journal and native seeds to plant.

Allison Hague is Community Engagement Director at Bedford 2030. She holds a MAT in the Biological Sciences with a focus in Community-Based Conservation and loves connecting people with nature and sharing impactful climate solutions.

LEGO Copycats
Thursday, July 13 at 4pm
Led by Samantha Levine

Can you build a Lego project and then explain how to do it to others? In this game, kids are divided into messengers and builders. Messengers observe what builder groups are creating and then dash to communicate this information to their own builder group. Can they duplicate the structure exactly or will it end up looking totally wonky?

Samantha Levine has been an elementary science teacher for over 20+ years in NYC and in Rockland County. She has also run science programs at various camps throughout her career.
